The Bible but Make it Gen Z: Genesis Chapter 24 💍✨
Okay bestie, this chapter is literally ancient dating app vibes fr fr:
So Abraham was mad old at this point but super blessed (God really said "catch these W's" and Abraham caught ALL of them). He called his most trusted employee (basically his COO fr fr) and was like "I need you to swear on something real important..." 🤔
Abraham hit him with the mission: "Look fam, I need you to promise me you won't let my son Isaac marry any of these local Canaanite girls. No shade but that's not the vibe we're looking for. Instead, go back to my hometown and find him a wife from my people." (Ancient times matchmaking service fr)
The servant was like "but what if the girl's not trying to move here? Should I take Isaac back there instead?" And Abraham was like "ABSOLUTELY NOT, NO CAP! ❌ God literally promised this land to my descendants, so Isaac's staying put."
"Don't stress tho - God's gonna send his angel ahead to help you find the right girl. And if she's not down to relocate, then you're off the hook from this promise. Just don't take my son back there, that's the only thing that's non-negotiable fr fr."
So the servant said "bet" and grabbed 10 camels (flex transportation fr) loaded with the finest gifts (man's was prepared). He headed to Abraham's brother's city in Mesopotamia.
When he got there, he parked his camels by the local well (basically their town square) during prime time when all the girls came to get water. Then he started praying: "God, I need you to come through with a sign. 🙏
"Here's the plan - when I ask a girl for water, if she's like 'sure, and I'll water your camels too,' that's the one you picked for Isaac. That's gonna be my sign that you're showing love to my boss Abraham."
LITERALLY before he even finished praying, Rebekah showed up looking fine af (respectfully) with her water jug. She was giving main character energy fr fr, and plot twist - she was Abraham's brother's granddaughter!
The servant ran up and was like "can I get some water?" and she said "ofc bestie! And I'll take care of your camels too!" (THIS GIRL MATCHED THE EXACT SIGN FR FR 😱)
Then she went ABOVE AND BEYOND watering all those camels (do you know how much camels drink? she was putting in that WORK). The servant was just watching like 👀, wondering if this was really happening.
After the camels were done, he blessed her with some drip - gave her a golden nose ring and some fancy bracelets (ancient times influencer swag). Then he asked whose daughter she was and if he could crash at her place.
When she said she was Bethuel's daughter (Abraham's brother's son), the servant literally started praising God right there because what are the chances??
Rebekah ran home to tell everyone, and her brother Laban came out to invite the servant in (after seeing that jewelry tho 👀). They offered him food but he was like "nah we gotta talk business first."
He spilled the whole tea about:- How blessed Abraham is (rich rich fr fr)- The whole wife-finding mission- The prayer and the sign- How Rebekah matched it PERFECTLY
Then he was like "so... y'all in or nah? I need an answer because I got places to be."
Laban and Bethuel were like "this is obviously God's plan, we can't even argue. Rebekah's right there, take her and go do what God said."
The servant started blessing them with gifts fr fr - jewelry, designer clothes, expensive stuff for the whole fam. They had a whole feast and sleepover.
Next morning the servant was like "aight, time to head out" but the fam was trying to keep Rebekah for a few more days. The servant wasn't having it tho, so they asked Rebekah and she said "yeah I'm ready to go rn" (we love a decisive queen 👑).
They blessed her like "go be the mother of millions bestie!" and sent her off with her squad and the servant.
Meanwhile, Isaac was out in his feels meditating in a field when he saw the camels pulling up. Rebekah saw him and was like "who's that?" When she found out it was Isaac, she put on her veil (respect the customs fr fr).
The servant gave Isaac the full rundown, and Isaac took Rebekah to his mom's old tent (Sarah had passed away). They got married, fell in love, and Isaac finally found peace after losing his mom.
And that's how you find love in biblical times, no dating apps needed! Just divine intervention and a servant who understood the assignment! 💯✨
