So Sarah was living her best life for 127 years (we love a queen who lives that long), but then she passed away in Kirjath-arba (aka Hebron) in Canaan. Abraham was devastated fr fr and went into full grief mode. 😢
After taking some time to process, Abraham got up and had to handle some business with the local squad (the Hittites). He was like "Look, I'm basically just a guy living in your area. I need to cop a burial spot for my wife - anyone willing to sell?"

Abraham was super grateful and did that respectful bow thing (vintage manners check). Then he was like "If y'all are fr about this, could you put in a good word with Ephron (Zohar's son)?"
"I'm tryna buy his cave in Machpelah at the end of his field. Tell him I'll pay full price no cap, I just need somewhere to lay my wife to rest." 💯
Ephron was actually in the chat and replied in front of everyone at the city gate (basically their town square group chat): "Nah fam, I'm not selling - I'm GIVING you the field AND the cave! Consider it gifted, respectfully. Go ahead and bury your wife there."
Abraham hit him with another respectful bow but wasn't trying to take handouts. He said "That's real generous of you but I gotta pay you fr fr. Let me know the price and I'll venmo you rn."
Ephron tried to play it cool: "My guy, the land's only worth 400 shekels of silver (that's bank btw). But what's a little money between friends? Just take it and do what you gotta do."
But Abraham said "nah we doing this right" and pulled up with exactly 400 shekels of silver (man's got that merchant-certified money, no fake bills). Paid in full, no cap. 💸
So it was official - Abraham got the whole package deal:- The field in Machpelah near Mamre ✅- The cave in it ✅- All the trees in and around the field ✅Everything was legally transferred fr fr, with all the Hittites as witnesses.
After securing the bag (respectfully), Abraham laid Sarah to rest in the cave at Machpelah (near Mamre/Hebron) in Canaan. The property deed was secured and everything - Abraham officially had his family burial plot.
And that's how Abraham handled losing his day one with nothing but respect and proper business. No cap, that's real king behavior. 👑✨
